Ignorance is Bliss.

What is it that makes people so rude???

No matter where it is you go, you are guaranteed to come across total ignorance. When you walk down the street many people will rather turn away than smile or say, ‘Hello’. When you go into a shop to buy something you frequently get the impression that you are being a nuisance by giving them your custom. Shop assistants will happily stand and talk among themselves but when it comes to serving you they will greet you with a face like death.

If you go into a filling station, the assistant will often look bored out of his skull. You would think that he’d appreciate a bit of conversation but, oh no, his glazed expression tells you otherwise.

I have not been to lots of different countries so I am unable to say whether this apathy and ignorance is unique to England. Surely it is not like this all over the world? (If I thought this was true then I’d probably open my wrists right now…) The British are noted for being reserved but they are also in mortal danger of becoming known for being downright rude.

People think that cities are bad because of all the anonymity but they are not the only bad place. Small market towns, in my experience, are even worse. Their inhabitants seem to have a ‘we don’t take kindly to strangers in these parts’ mentality about them. It really is infuriating; you can go out to the shops in a great mood and end up feeling thoroughly depressed within five minutes! It is like an emotional virus that spreads throughout each day. You are in constant danger of ending up just as miserable as everyone else.

I find that the easiest way of dealing with it is to keep my head down when I am out. Ironically though, some people must see this as being ignorant…

One last thing, I have just realized that I have been gapeing at my computer screen for the last couple of hours and am really tired of my Heroes Wallpaper, I think it is time for a change, these and more updates coming soon
